Harissa (2011)
MUJU Upstarts* kicked off 2011 with a new director and the opportunity to perform work inspired by untold true stories of Muslim heroes during WW2 and the Holocaust. Using the stories as a jumping off point, the group worked together and were directed by director, Josh Azouz, supported by Tara Jaffa, to devise a show. The result? A cast with little past acting experience performed a rich 50-minute play, alongside beautiful music, at the Tricycle Theatre in May over three sell-out shows.
*MUJU Upstarts gives a platform to new performers, whatever their experience, helping to nurture new talent in the Muslim and Jewish communities.
