MUJU's 2025 Statement

Our vision for the future

A world where Muslims and Jews love and respect one another and stand for dignity, freedom and justice for all.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create an inclusive artistic space where Muslims and Jews can come together to collaborate on thought-provoking work that entertains, inspires reflection, and fosters empathy and solidarity between our communities.

Problem definition

The ongoing Israel / Palestine conflict has created a wedge between Muslim and Jewish communities in the UK and globally.

We care deeply about what happens in the region – many of us have spent time there and have deep bonds of friendship and family ties with Israelis and Palestinians.

Through its ongoing occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem, its control over Gaza, and the expansion of settlements deemed illegal under international law, Israel maintains a system of structural oppression that restricts Palestinians’ basic rights, freedoms, and human dignity.

Mainstream narratives in the UK—shaped by media, political rhetoric, and institutional voices—have often contributed to the realities of occupation by downplaying or obscuring the lived experiences of Palestinians. This can happen through language that softens harsh realities, through silences where truth is urgently needed, and through inaction where moral responsibility calls for courage. Such framing not only distorts public understanding, but also deepens divides and hinders the building of trust, solidarity and meaningful relationships across communities.

The October 7th massacre and the ongoing genocide in Gaza have further deepened communal divisions, making efforts toward mutual understanding and solidarity increasingly difficult.

Unlike many interfaith organisations that avoid the difficult issues that divide us, MUJU is committed to fostering honest and meaningful conversations about the challenges that truly matter.

MUJU is a welcoming home for Muslims and Jews seeking an alternative space—one that values substance over tokenism, and where a genuine belief in peace goes hand in hand with the understanding that true peace is not just the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice.
